Using the website

The hosting platform processes technical information to serve and secure the website. We do not use analytics or email tracking pixels.

Maps

Interactive maps request tiles from OpenStreetMap and mapping-library files from unpkg. These requests disclose connection information, such as your IP address, to those providers. A pin selection alone stays in the current page. Submitting a community report records the selected issue location with the report.

Community reports

Bayside Matters collects the name, email, suburb, issue location and report details you submit. We use them to review the report, contact you about it and maintain its case record. Contact details and reports are not published automatically or automatically sent to a council or representative.

Reports create a private case record and a pending email receipt. Receipt delivery status is shown separately from successful submission.

We use hosting, database and security services to operate reporting. Google processes reCAPTCHA data to help detect fraud, bots and abuse.

Storage and requests

Access to reports is restricted to the site owner and the reporter’s private session. We keep personal information for as long as needed for its purpose, to manage requests and complaints, and to meet applicable obligations. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion.

Metro East survey

We collect your name, email, suburb and survey answers to understand local transport priorities and contact you about your response. Individual responses and contact details are private to the site owner. The form uses Google reCAPTCHA for abuse prevention.

If you select news and updates, we record that choice with your response. You can withdraw it by contacting us, and any future newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. The article-email service is not currently accepting submissions.

Requested article and section emails

When this feature is available, you can ask for a one-off article or campaign-section email to yourself or a friend. We use the recipient address, your supplied name and optional note to fulfil that request. A friend is not subscribed to updates. The separate, optional updates checkbox records consent only for your own address; it starts unchecked. No newsletter campaign is sent by the sharing feature.

To prevent abuse, requested sharing uses Google reCAPTCHA, a necessary secure browser cookie lasting up to 24 hours, request and recipient limits, and private delivery and suppression records. We do not store these addresses in browser storage. Stop-shared-email links and separate unsubscribe links control their respective preferences. You may contact us to request access, correction or deletion. While sending is unavailable, the panel collects no address and sends nothing.
